UKRAINE
Ukraine
[/size]
NAME: Yekaterina Braginskaya
ALIAS: Ukraine, Yekaterina, Kat (Note: The nickname Katyusha comes from a Soviet song as well as her headband, both didn’t exist around that time.)
APPARENT AGE: 14 (Note: I see her about one year older than Poland and Lithuania to that time, but since none of them applied yet, I had to make up an age myself.)
GENDER: Female
STATUS: Nation, under rule of Poland-Lithuania
LIKES:
- Cooking
- Singing
- Helping whenever she can
DISLIKES:
- Fighting
- Trouble in her family
- Skin on warm milk
PERSONALITY: Ukraine’s a tough child, I think, even though she’s a crybaby. She took care of her siblings, when she was still a child herself. She never complains, but if someone makes her talk about her worries or anything, she opens her heart and lets it all out. She also likes being in the background, behind her brother or Poland-Lithuania, and not always in the middle of the attention. Sometimes, of course, she wishes to be less ignored, especially when it comes to her as country. She loves her people almost as much as her siblings and friends and so tries to please them as best as she’s able to. She gets lonely easily, too. Ukraine needs some close friends, not many not-so-close ones.
She’s shy, cute and always tries to think the best of everyone. Of course she also has rather negative thoughts about some persons, but she always keeps them for herself.
Her siblings are everything to her. She’ll love them, no matter what they do and sometimes she feels really sorry for them. She often thinks back to everything that happened in her long life, but she doesn’t like to LIVE in the past. One of the many things that make her sad.
In her freetime, she enjoys books, handcrafts, singing and music. She’s a quiet personality and, as I said, she’s rather in the background.
HISTORY:
- 14th century Lithuania took over Ukraine and she then fell under the rule of Poland-Lithuania.
- 1648 Ukrainian Cossack rebellion and war of independence against Poland-Lithuania. (As well as a rivalry with the Ottoman Empire)
- 1654 Treaty of protection with Russia.
- 1667 Polish-Russian treaty which divided Ukrainian territory between Poland-Lithuania and Russia.
WHAT YOU GO BY: Emma
YEARS RPING: One year
RP EXAMPLE:
It was her day off, Poland and Lithuania were exploring new territories and didn’t want a woman, or girl, with them. She understood them, when it came to all-day marches, fighting and tactic she wasn’t helpful, but at the same time she wished they would include her more into the Commonwealth and their decisions. She sighed, when she dragged a bucket of water into the house. Ukraine had promised the two of them fresh bread when they’d come back and she had enough ingredients to make more than one, so she planned to make one for her brother too. Living in their house sure had advantages, but she started to feel rather used, especially by Poland. Oh well, she shouldn’t complain. Actually, she never did, but even when she only thought about it, she felt sorry. Poland and Lithuania were her friends after all.
In the kitchen she found Belarus, cleaning the oven as Ukraine had told her too. The girl wanted to help making the bread for their brother, but since she was still so small, Ukraine couldn’t let her do the tasks that asked for more physical strength. Though even this task didn’t seem to be the right one for her little sister, Ukraine thought. She was dirty all over now, but it looked kinda cute too. “We’ll take a bath together, later, alright?”, she asked and watched how her sister glared at her and then ran off. No child liked baths.
The oven was cleaned and she could pre-heat it now. Sometimes she forgot that and it would take endless than till she could actually bake the bread-dough. While mixing the ingredients then, Ukraine thought about her brother, who would visit them today. He wasn’t a part of the Commonwealth and their relationships weren’t that good either, but from time to time they’d be able to see each other. Like today. That was almost the only time when she would see her little sister smile, one of many things that made Ukraine sad. She wondered whether she’d ever be allowed to see her siblings whenever she wanted to? Maybe they could even live together one day! That would be wonderful...
The thought made her so happy that she got teary eyed and had to wipe over her eyes with the back of her hand, since her palm was all covered in flour. While she kneaded the dough with all her strength, she could feel her chest ache. In the past years, her body had began to change and males started to look different at her too. She didn’t mind it though. Maybe they’d respect her more as woman, “lady”, than as girl. Well, she’d find out one day, but till now she was “only” a girl.
Ukraine put the bread in a bowl and put a slightly wet cloth over it. While it would rise, she’d look for Belarus. “You sure don’t want to face brother when you’re so dirty, right?”, she said, when she spotted her feet under a bed. Ukraine couldn’t help but chuckle when her sister huffed, but came out anyway.
(If anything's not alright with the add, please tell me. I'll fix it!)
