The Habsburg Empire
House of Habsburg
NAME: Austria
ALIAS: Roderich Edelstein
APPARENT AGE: Early twenties (About twenty or twenty one?)
GENDER: Male
STATUS: Empire
LIKES:
- Music and the arts
- Rules and order
- Cleanliness
DISLIKES:
- France. He just does not appreciate France’s company.
- When rules are not followed
- Disorganization. And those who cause disorder.
PERSONALITY: Roderich Edelstein is, from an outward perspective, as clear as day. He seems plain and simple, a prude if you will. Anything or anyone acting “out of line”, rowdy, acts like a “hooligan” of some sort, he really… Frowns upon. As an Aristocratic Austrian (of the Habsburg Empire), such behavior was not approved of; therefore, he cannot stand such actions.
He is very observant of everyone; silently judging how they act verses how he should act. He is most commonly referred to as a priss (and a prissy aristocrat by someone). As an aristocrat, he holds his chin high and does not display much emotion. However, behind the mask he created for himself long ago, Roderich is very emotional. Since he bottles up most of his frustrations with those around him, he would probably explode if it ever got loose.
Since he does not feel it is socially acceptable that he show his emotions, he sort of would tell someone how he was feeling through music. Edelstein is a very passionate person, and you would be able to hear it through his songs. He cannot display those emotions on his face, but he shows them through music.
As an Aristocrat, he is a very polite person. (Well, he is polite in general, but he has to be ten-fold because of his status.) However, since he is so polite, he may come off as having a “I’m higher than thou” air. Which he never would have wanted. He means well when he politely offers someone to lunch, but he may sound as a conceded aristocrat.
He really is a nice person.
And although he is not physically strong, he is not one to give up in a fight. He will stand and defend his right, opinions, and people when he feels he is needed and he does not give in. He does not let his pride get in the way of his decisions, either. He’ll make a decision based on facts verses his emotions. There may be exceptions to this rule, however. But they don’t come around very often.
HISTORY:
- 1529 Siege of Vienna by the Ottoman Empire. It lasts from late September to mid-October. Ottomans retreat after a few days..
- 1618-1648 The Thirty Years’ War. Between the Germanic Protestants and Germanic Catholics. Habsburg not really involved until the Protestants in Bohemia revolt against the Catholic emperor. By the end of the war, Roman Catholicism is declared Austria’s official religion.
- 1683 Battle of Vienna, Ottoman Empire’s second attempt at taking over Europe through Austrian territory.
- 1701-1714 War of the Spanish Succession between Austria and France. Austria wins Spain’s lands in Italy and Belgium.
- 1740-Present(1745) Maria Theresa succeeds the throne of the Habsburg Empire. Many other nations and countries alike do not appreciate a woman being on the throne. The start of the War of Austrian Succession begins in 1740.

YEARS RPING: On and off for about six years…? (It only feels like two minutes!)
RP EXAMPLE:
1740
It was not very often that he became angry. Frustrated beyond his control. He was very annoyed. Unreasonably angry. At the moment, he was so annoyed that he could not even sit himself down to play his favorite piano piece. He could not stay still for merely a moment to lift his violin for a few notes to calm him down.
It took most of his will power not to scream and throw objects at the walls. The Austrian kept his distance from all breakable objects as to avoid unnecessary cleaning later.
Maria Theresa, the duchess of the Habsburg Empire – his boss, just informed him of one very important detail as to why his body just was not feeling all right at the moment.
The Empire of Prussia had just seized the lands of Silesia.
He would never curse in front of a woman, especially someone of her importance. At the news, he had to bite back his words in front of her. His fingers twitched in the crooks of his elbows. He took a deepened breath to clam his running nerves.
He had been playing his music just fine up until about a day ago until he just could not concentrate any longer. Numbing pains coursed through his body – not enough to hurt, but enough to break his concentrations.
Roderich felt his duchess’ eyes on him, filled with concern. Another deep breath was taken as he stepped up close to his piano. “Gather the Generals, I suppose..” He did not want to act too irrationally. “We’ll… We’ll decide what we’re going to do then.” Maria Theresa did not look too excited about his decision; however he was her empire.
When she left the room without a word, the man allowed himself a small, frustrated growl, cursing right under his breath. How could he let Prussia take that place from him? The anger started to bubble up inside once more, but he choked it down. A true gentleman would push those feelings down wherever he was; if he was with company, even when he was alone.
Roderich almost jumped as the door opened once more; a servant quietly informing him that most of the Generals were at the conference room (if he could call it that. It was more of a music room with a giant table in the middle for convenience. And Roderich had more music rooms than he could ever count. But he did not seem to mind that fact one bit, unsurprisingly.). The brunette gave a curt nod, flattening his clothing that had gotten wrinkled in his frustration. “I’ll be there in a moment.” He sighed after the attendant as she left.
He clutched the doorknob and took a breath to calm his nerves once more, relaxing his features behind his mask that he had grown accustomed to wearing since he was smaller. Hopefully the meeting would go without a problem so he could get his vital regions back.
((Yes, I had to put that in there.))
